RB25DET Buggy

A while ago now I bought a very cheap series 1 R33 Skyline (1993). It was auto, with an RB25DET. I bought the car with one reason in mind... to make a buggy out of it. After weighing up my options and calculating up costs - I leapt at this opportunity, as it provided me with almost everything I would need.

The car itself wasn't in very good condition. Dents, scratches, missing parts. The chassis was fairly straight, but I ended up throwing that away as no one wanted it. The engine and driveline, however, were in decent condition. I stripped the Skyline completely, sold off some parts and kept most for myself.

A while after stripping all the parts out, I had acquired some necessary contacts and money required to order in the steel. I had also acquired a heavy duty mandrel pipe bender, a heavy duty notcher, some wheels, and many other parts that will turn this heap of junk into a buggy.

SPECS

  • 44.45 (1 3/4") CDW tube (2.6mm Wall) for the main part of the chassis (its the grey tube in the photos)
  • 42.4 ERW tube (3.2mm wall) for wheel arms, triangle sections of the chassis (its the blue round tube)
  • 50mm ERW square tube (3.2mm wall) for the chassis rails and other misc parts (its the blue square tube)
  • 3mmx50mm flat bar for misc items
  • Unmodified RB25DET powerplant
  • RB25DET auto box
  • R33 16" stock rims
  • road rubber on front, 32" muddies on rear

180sx

My first entry into the world of high performance vehicles. My 180 has been with me for a long time now and has evolved from a daily driver to a weekend and "track" car (even though it almost never sees the track nowadays). The car has been through multiple turbos, one engine, a clutch, and lots and lots of petrol. :)
